MT. ROSKILL A BOROUGH

SUPPORT OF DISTRICT M.P. In paying an official visit to the Mount Roskill Road Board last evening, Mr. G. C. Munns, M.P. for Roskill, expressed the hope that the movement afoot for dismembering the district would not be proceeded with, as it was his opinion that such an extensive and rich district, if under the control of one body, had a great future befort it. He hoped that the commission appointed to report on the petition for the road district being elevated to a borough would be successful, as then those ratepayers who, under the unimproved rating system were being hardly dealt with, would receive redress. Asked by the chairman, Mr. E. F. Jones, if he would consent to appear before the commission and assist the board to attain the dignity of a borough council, Mr. Munns replied, “Yes. I am wholeheartedly with you.”
