STATESMEN WORN OUT SIGNS OF HEAVY STRAIN (Australian and N.Z. Press Association) LONDON, Tuesday. The Geneva correspondent of the “Morning Post” says a weary-looking body of statesmen gathered round the table at the opening meeting of the Council of the League. Sir Austen Chamberlain was pale as a result of his recent illness. M. Briand (France) was obviously worn out. Dr. Stresemann (Germany) was white as a ghost, and Signor Scialoja spoke so wearily that the public scarcely beard a word he said. A well-known American likened the meeting to a “consultation between the sick doctors of Europe.” Everyone was delighted that Sir Austen was again able to take his place in the Council chamber*
