“STRANGERS’” GOOD HAUL
TOBACCONIST ROBBED POLITE NOTE FOR OWNER Press Association. NAPIER, Monday. Almost the entire stock on the premises of Mr. Prank Whisker, hairdresser and tobacconist, of Hastings, was stolen by burglars at the weekend. Mr. Whisker left the shop locked and barred on Saturday night. On returning this morning he found almost everything movable gone. Only a small box of articles was left. Even scissors and razors had been stolen, and this morning Mr. Whisker had only two or three razors which he had left at home, with which to begin business. The burglars apparently attempted, to force the door with a crowbar and chisel, but on failing smashed the panel and undid the lock. Besides making what was obviously an unhurried and painstaking clearance of the stock, the intruders left a note commencing, “Dear sir,” and informing the proprietor that they were strangers to the town and saking him not to inform the police too soon of the crime.
