Mr. R- A. Laidlaw returned to Auckland by the Limited express this Mr. C. Amtman, who is well-known in bowling circles at Dunedin, is visiting Auckland. He is staying at the gtar Hotel. Lord Waleran, assistant private secretary to his Excellency the Governorgeneral, and Captain E. L. Orr-Ewing, aide-de-camp, have arrived at Government House. Professor H. Sperrin-Johnson, of Auckland, returned this morning from the South Island, where he has been collecting alpine plants and speaking at various Rotary clubs. The Hon. A. J. Stallworthy, Minister of Health, will arrive in Auckland on Thursday for two days. He will inspect the Mental Hospital and will also attend to departmental business. Mr. W. J. Gow, who has been chief postmaster at Auckland for five years> loft for Wellington by train last evening. In Wellington he will act as .-econd assistant secretary in the head office of the department. Jhe Rev. A. R. Allerton has been appointed vicar of St. Thomas’s Angli- . in Church, Freeman’s Bay, of which the Rev. E. H. Wyatt has temporary charge. Mr. Allerton will arrive from England shortly after Easter. Marks and Saulwick Pty. Co., will join the Aorangl at Auckland for Vancouver on March 32. He expects to be back in New Zealand about the end of May. Mr. D. Hebenton. who has been chief brganiser of the Reform Party since ’August, 1923, has left for Sydney, en route for England. During his stay In England it is his intention to make a study of electioneering methods adopted by the several parties at the forthcoming general election. Mr. W. M. Paterson, of Wellington, •Mr. P.
