Mr. R- A. Laidlaw returned to Auckland by the Limited express this Mr. C. Amtman, who is well-known in bowling circles at Dunedin, is visiting Auckland. He is staying at the gtar Hotel. Mr. William Wallace, chairman of the Auckland Hospital Board, was a jiissenger from the South by the Limited this morning. Vice-Admiral A. G. llotham, commo«loro of the New Zealand Division of the Royal Navy from 1920 to 1923, has retired from the service. The Rev. Cecil Watson, vicar of St. Paul’s Church, who had been ill for two months, resumed charge of his parish yesterday morning. Lord Waleran, assistant private secretary to his Excellency the Governorgeneral, and Captain E. L. Orr-Ewing, aide-de-camp, have arrived at Government House. Professor H. Sperrin-Johnson, of Auckland, returned this morning from the South Island, where he has been collecting alpine plants and speaking at various Rotary clubs. The Hon. A. J. Stallworthy, Minister of Health, will arrive in Auckland on Thursday for two days. He will inspect the Mental Hospital and will also attend to departmental business. Mr. W. J. Gow, who has been chief postmaster at Auckland for five years> loft for Wellington by train last evening. In Wellington he will act as .-econd assistant secretary in the head office of the department. Jhe Rev. A. R. Allerton has been appointed vicar of St. Thomas’s Angli- . in Church, Freeman’s Bay, of which the Rev. E. H. Wyatt has temporary charge. Mr. Allerton will arrive from England shortly after Easter. Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Williamson, Mayor and Mayoress of Takapuna, and Mr. and Mrs. E. Aldridge, Mayor and Mayoress of Devonport, will leave tomorrow for Wanganui, where the municipal conference is being held. Mr. W. L. Clabburn, New Zealand manager for L. and E. Marks and Saulwick Pty. Co., will join the Aorangl at Auckland for Vancouver on March 32. He expects to be back in New Zealand about the end of May. Mr. D. Hebenton. who has been chief brganiser of the Reform Party since ’August, 1923, has left for Sydney, en route for England. During his stay In England it is his intention to make a study of electioneering methods adopted by the several parties at the forthcoming general election. Mr. W. M. Paterson, of Wellington, •Mr. P.
