SOMETHING NEW IN BATHROOM FITTINGS

There is something newer than aluminium for bathroom embellishment, and that is Staffordshire ware. The fittings are made in white and coloured glazes, so that you may, if you wish, introduce a note of brilliance in the soap dish and spongebo wl. Fitments are firmly attached to the wall at the side of the bath or basin by means of substantial *'keys'’ so that there is no risk of their becoming detached. They may be placed in recesses or they may be fixed to stand away from the wall, the latter method being generally adopted in the case of towl-rails, mirrors and so forth. Another new idea for bathrooms is represented by curtains of shiny American cloth, which can be kept spruce by means of a damp duster. These hangings are not affected by steam, and can now be had in rich red, yellow, and most of the modern shades. Bath seats of aluminium, covered with the same cloth, promise endless wear. The note of black is being exploited in up-to-date bathroom decorations, taps of black gunmetal giving the lead, and rubber floorings in big black and white squares repeating the note. Curtains of white American cloth, bordered in black, go well with this magpie scheme, which the geyser completes with a black finish that requires no polishing. The sills of the windows are tiled very practically in black and cemented in white. To give a suggestion of colour, bath-salt bottles and pow r der bowls in jade green china should stand upon them.
