IDLE RESERVE LANDS

WANTED FOR DAIRYING BIG AREA NEAR THAMES (From Our Own Correspondent) THAMES, To-day. At the present time there are several thousands of acres of grazing land tied up as reserves in the Ilauraki Peninsula adjacent to Thames. The local bodies of Thames and Hauraki Plains are doing their utmost to have the reserve restrictions removed, and the land thrown open for selection by farmers on the Plains, for the purpose of winter grazing. With this end in view, the Commissioner of Crown Lands (Mr. K. Graham) and the Conservator of Forests (Mr. Campbell) met the representatives of the Thames Borough and County, Chamber of Commerce, Ilauraki Plains County, and the Land Setltement Committee.

The commissioner gave a sympathetic hearing to the conference and expressed his pleasure at the interest displayed.

At the conclusion of the conference, Mr. Graham said he would give the request his earnest consideration.
