AVOIDING POLICE
FRANK DRIVER PUNISHED “When accosted by a policeman, the first thing to do is to get away —and I gave it a go.” Clarence D. Jones, in the Onehunga Police Court this morning, gave this as his reason for not stopping when Constable F. Johnsen tried to stop him for driving a motor-car without lights. The constable leaped aboard another car and gave pursuit. There was a long chase along Manukau Road and Jones was eventually found in a garage. For having no light and for ignoring the constable’s signal to stop, Jones was fined £1 and costs.
