NATHAN’S STAFF PICNIC
OUTING TO MOTUIHI The employees of Messrs. L. D. Nathan and Co., Ltd., held their annual picnic at Motuihi on Saturday, March 2, when some 250 members of the staff and their friends made the trip in the s.s. Kiwi. Ideal weather conditions prevailed to make the outing a great success. A good sports programme was got through during the afternoon, and some keenly contested events were witnessed. At the close of the outing a hearty vote of thanks was extended to Mr. and Mrs. Hubber for their untiring efforts in connection with the picnic. The sports results were as follow: Girls’ race, 7 to 14 years.J. Perkinson 1, M. Hubber 2. Boys’ race, 7 to 14 years.—B. Lindsay 1, B. Jeffries 2. Girls' Race, under seven years.—13. Uneworth 1, M. Rubery 2. Boys' race, under seven years.—W. Perkinson 1, B. Lowther 2. Swimming race.—Girls: R. Bolton. Boys: R. Davis. Three-legged race.—Mr. Hewson and Miss McLeod 100 yards handicap, 14 to IS years.— A. Aspden 1, J. Hewson 2. 100 yards, handicap, men 40 and under. —W. Dodds 3, A. Aspden 2. Single ladies’ race.—R. McLeod 1, M. Copsey 2. 50 yards handicap, men, 40 and oyer.— S. Tremain 1. J. Blubber 2. Married ladies’ race.—Mrs. Jeffries 1, Mrs. Hartley 2. 100 yards handicap, open.—A. Chubb 1, A. Blow 2. 300 yards swimming race.—A. Keane. Thread-the-Needle Race.—Mr. Tilly and Miss Cole. Lady's and gent’s cigarette race.—Mr. Collins and Miss Chegwidden. Golden syrup apple race.—W. Dodd. Men’s swimming race.—R. McKenzie. Ladies swimming race.—R. McLeod. Half-mile fiat race.—A. Blow. Departmental relay race.—Fancy department. Ladies’ and gents’ relay race.—Miss McLeod and Mr. Aspden.
