CURE FOR UNEMPLOYMENT
MINISTER AT TE AWAMUTU (From Our Own Correspondent) TE AWAMUTU, Thursday. East evening a number of residents and settlers met the Hon. H. Atmore, Minister of Education, ut Te Awamutu. when the land problem was discussed. Mr. J. G. Wynyard, president of the Te Awamutu branch of the New Zealand Farmers’ Union, presided, and among those present were Messrs. W. J. Broadfoot, M.P., L. U. Armstrong, Mayor of Te Awamutu, A. Hanna, vicepresident of the local branch of the Farmers’ Union, F. Quin. C. G. Downes, W. F. Woodward, J. O’Sullivan and D. Bockett, The Minister said he was glad of the opportunity of meeting the settlers and hearing their views, as he realised that closer settlement was the only cure for unemployment. Something had to be done and the Government was assiduously devoting its energies toward that end.
