GLUT OF TOMATOES PEAR PRICES HIGHER Growers aro still bringing forward large quantities of tomatoes to the City Markets, and the sales benches are again glutted. Even firm and smooth lines are selling at lower raAes. Pears have shown an advance in price since the beginning of the week. Banana rates are not changed. Ripe bananas are still cheap. Inferior apples have dropped in value. Potatoes, lettuces, pumpkins and onions are in exceptionally heavy supply in the vegetable market. A keen demand existed for most lines at to-day’s poultry auction. Values for ducks and drakes have increased slightly. Heavy hens are selling well and good light breed birds are the medium of brisk competition. Quotations: FRUIT Pears—Bon Chretien, prime quality, 6s to Ss 6d.; small, 3s 6d to 4s 6d.
