WHEAT FOR FOWLS
POULTRYMEN COMPLAIN DEPUTATION TO MINISTER Press Association WELLINGTON, Tuesday. From the tone of a deputation to the Hon. G. W. Forbes, and the nature of his reply to-day, it is apparent that the poultry industry is going through a very trying time. The deputation was from Wellington producers, who, among other questions, brought up that of the disadvantage under which North Island producers laboured in regard to the price of wheat, as against the Southern poultry men. The Minister of Agriculture said the Southern poultrymen complained that the industry was not profitable, and the position in the North appeared to be worse. Ele pointed out that, on the other hand, wheat producers were also seeking the protection of the Government. Mr. Forbes showed plainly his desire that the poultry industry should flourish, both for the sake of the producer and of the community. He promised to go fully into the question with the department.
