PUKEKOHE BOROUGH COUNCIL

The Pukekohe Borough Council met last evening, the Mayor, Mr. J. Routly, presiding. It was stated that the money in connection with the £5,000 waterworks extension loan wasavailable, that the reservoir would be completed in March and that a contract had been let for 145 tons of 4in cast-iron pipes and fittings. The Works Committee is to arrange for the erection of a rubbish incinerator, and also a contract for rubbish collection a.nd street cleaning. The application for an additional stamp-vending machine at the Pukekohe Post Office was declined, as also was a request that the telephone call box at the railway station be retained in its present position.
