N.Z. BAND CONTEST

SOLOS AND QUARTETS Press Association WANGANUI, Monday. The Dominion band contest was begun to-day with solos and quartets, the first B grade test being heard in die evening. The judge, Mr. Rees, congratulated the bandsmen. He said the playing was surprisingly good and better than he had expected to hear. The points would not be announced until Thursday night, when the second test would be played. Additional results are: Baritones.—R. Boyd (Wanganui Garrison), 90, 1; A.
