As the result of a motor accident on the Taneatua Road at midnight on Saturday Lola Marcia Warn, aged 19, lies dangerously injured in the Whakatane HospitalShe was a passenger in a car going to Taneatua, which was passed by a motor-lorry carrying merry-go-round gear from the Opotiki Show to Whakatane. As the car and lorry passed, a pointed 11-foot tent pole on the lorry penetrated six inches into the back of the girl, just underneath her shoulderblade, inflicting a terrible wound. The patient is not expected to recover.
