Parsons Wins Final

CHAMPION PAIRS TOURNEY Club and Inter-Club Games PARSONS (Ponsonby) defeated Ball (Carlton) in the final of the champion pairs tournament of the Auckland Bowling Played on the Remuera green on Saturdav afternoon. lhe game was full of interest up till the last head, the final scores being 20—17 in favour of Parsons On other greens a long list of club and inter-club games was played* ’when many interesting contests were fought out on excellent greens under perfect weather condition!.

rpHEKE was a good crowd present at *- the Kcmuera green to witness the Anal of the championship pairs. On the tirst head, Coutts was lying wall with liis opening howls, but Jones got in with his last shot, and was one down when the skips changed over. The head was not altered, and Carlton got a single. Play was very even up till the tenth head, which was an eventful one. After Coutts lay three shots, Parsons got in a good second. Pali was too strong, and gave his opponents the shot. However, he scored three from a drive which took out his opponent's nearest woods, and raised the score to 9-all. At the sixteenth head the score lay 16—11 in Ponsonby s favour, but the nineteenth head saw the scores equalised, due to a good shot by Ball, with his last bowl. On the twentieth head. Jones beat Coutts, but Ball got in for second with his first shot, and with his next took the jack for a single. Parsons then drew shot, and with his final bowl got in another, which put Ponsonby two up, with one head to go. fn the last head Ponsonby eventually got one. and finished tip a good game with three to spare, the scores being: Ponsonby 20; Carlton, 17.
