QUEST FOR THE CHAMPION UZCUDUN BEATS CHRISTNER (Australian and N.Z. Press Association) (United Service) NEW YORK, Saturday. The heavy-weignt boxer Paolino Uzcudun won on points in 10 rounds from Kayo Christner at Madison Square Garden, in an elimination bout toward the championship. Neither man showed particular ability. Christner until the end of the fight was indifferent. Then he left Uzcudun weak and staggering with rights to the jaw in the last round, but was unable to knock out the Basque, whose superiority in the earlier rounds won him the decision. Jack Payne (Australia), drew in a 10-round bout in New York with Charlie Belanger (Toronto). Payne sent Belanger down for a count of seven in the third round. BOQTS IN AUSTRALIA FILIPINO KNOCKED OUT (Australian and N.Z. Press Association) SYDNEY, Sunday. At the Sydney Stadium last evening Jack Roberts, 9st 41b (Newcastle), again knocked out the “Filipino tornado,’* Kid Johnson, in the first round, Roberts’s blows were terrifically heavy. At the Deichhardt Stadium, in a bout of 15 rounds, Bert Malcolm, 9st 81b, won on points against Rus Crichter, 9st 131 b. At the Melbourne Stadium Tommy Brooks, Bst 61b, won on points against Les Perris, Sst lib, in a 12 rounds bout.
