LONDON MERCHANT RETURNS DAUGHTER’S BIRTHDAY TOUR Interest that is largely sentimental «lraws Mr. and Mrs. Frank Cornell l>ack to Auckland, with their daughter. Miss Vera Cornell, after an absence of 37 years. Mr. Cornell, who is a colonial importer of Smithfield, London, arrived ■with his family on the Aorangi yesterday. and thus advanced a further stage on the eight months' world tour, which is his 21st birthday gift to his daughter. Mr. and Mrs. Cornell are anxious to renew old associations by visiting St. Matthew’s Church, where they were married many years ago. They also wish to journey to Rotorua, where, as Mrs. Cornell said, they last went In springless and steel-tyred backboards. Mr. Cornell was particularly impressed with South Africa, where he wintered last year, but he is now anxious to see China, Japan and Singapore, which are included in their itinerary. After renewing acquaintance with Rotorua and parts of the South Island, Mr. and Mrs. Cornell will go on to Australia.
