GORGEOUS PAGEANTRY

AN ALL-INDIAN FILM There are no superlatives in the English language capable of describ-' ing the gorgeous pageantry of the new British Dominions Film, “Shiraz,” which is shortly to be released. Even judged by the most extravagant Hollywood standards, “Shiraz” is a superpicture, inasmuch as the cast included over 50,000 people, some 300 camels and 37 elephants, while the whole standing army of the State of Jaipur, camels and camel guns, horse and foot, was pressed into service by the producers to take the big desert scenes. But “Shiraz” is something more than that. It is a serious attempt at putting into use the immense cinematographic resources of our Indian Empire. The story is a reverent treatment of one of the greatest love stories of the world, an Indian romance written by an Indian, the wellknown Hindu author. Naranjan Pal, and entirely acted by Indians. The cameramen and directors alone were Europeans. CLEVEDON DANCES DE LUXE The grand opening gala night of

the Clevedon Dances De Luxe will be held in the Dominion Hall on Tuesday next. There will be the latest in novelties and attractions, and continuous dancing from 8 p.m. to midnight to the excellent music of the Ambassadors Jazz Band.
