PAVING IN CONCRETE

WAITEMATA COUNTY ROADS The paving in concrete of the Waitemata County portion of Onewa Hoad, in the Birkenhead riding, between the Northcote and Hirkenhead boroughs, was completed on Wednesday. The road will be reopened for heavy traffic in about a month’s time, the delay being necessary for "curing” the concrete. The contractors, H. Bray and Company, Ltd., have carried the work out expeditiously. There is now a sealed road from Northcote Wharf to Albany, with the exception of about 50 chains on Onewa Hoad in the Northcote borough The concrete paving of the county portion of Lake Road, in the Takapuna riding, between Takapuna and Northcote boroughs, was commenced vesterday by the same contractors. It was thought advisable to remove and relay a portion of the Sin rising main delivering water to the Northcote reservoir from Lake Pupuke. The main was under the road to be concreted and it was decided to move it to the side.
