POPE GETS MESSAGES FROM NEW ZEALAND, REJOICING WITH HIM
( A.ust ration and N . ’/. Press Association) Reed. 9.42 a.m. LONDON, Thursday. His Holiness the Pope, in a special interview with the British United Press representative at Rome, said: “People all over the world have crowded the churches as if the reconciliation of the State and the Vatican were part of their own lives, as, indeed, it is. Future generations will reap the full fruit of this accord. This is only a beginning: we have still much to do. It is wonderful to hear how everywhere it was received joyously. Telegrams have come even from far-away New Zealand.” The Pope looked the picture of health, rosy-cheeked and clear-voiced, with nothing to suggest that his 72nd birthday is near at hand.
