AUCKLAND MAN HURT

COMPANION KILLED RUNAWAY MOTOR-CAR rress Association CHRISTCHURCH, To-day. Stephen James Johnston, of Te Kopuru, Dargaville, was killed last evening - and Mr. Edward Albert Boldero, of Tennyson Avenue, Takapuna, was seriously injured through being struck by a motor-car, driven by Mrs. Stanley, of Riccarton, at the corner of Manchester and Belfast Streets. According to eye-witnesses, the car seemed to get out of control. An eye-witness stated that the car took a wide turn into Belfast Street and caught the men almost in the middle of the road, carrying them into a channel and inflicting terrible injuries. The car mounted the footpath and then swung back and struck a stationary car. The woman driver collapsed and had to be assisted into an hotel nearby.
