FASCIST ELECTION WAY
PURGING THE LISTS OF CANDIDATES MUSSOLINI LEADS ALL 1 'im«B Cable. LONDON, Monday. The Rome correspondent of “The Times” says the preliminary phase of the general election in Italy has ended with the expiration of the time allowed for authorised associations to submit the names of candidates. Every association has placed Signor Mussolini at the top of its list. The various lists sent in contain 1,000 names. These *\vill go first to the Prime Minister and another member of the Cabinet, who will send them to the secretary of the Fascist Party, Signor Turati, with their comments upon them. The lists will then be sent to the Grand Council. An official list of the selected candidates will bo published early in March. Signor Turati believes that the application of Fascist principles to university education is long overdue. He will soon begin the task. He has issued a circular informing university teachers that they need a solid, harmonious organisation, in keeping with the principles and interests of Fascism, but in the first place they need a healthy political atmosphere.
