WHANGAREI’S RACE PERMIT MINISTER NON-COMMITTAL (From Our Own Gorre&ponaent) WHANGAREI, To-day. ‘ You are an energetic and enterprising club. There is ample evidence of that in your beautiful course, your new buildings and the spirit of initiative that has marked your progress. You must, however, leave your request with me for consideration, and I can only promise at present that everything,- as between yourselves and others, will be weighed most carefully, and every detail considered most fairly.” Thus did the Minister of Internal Affairs, the Hon. P. A. de la Perelle, reply to Mr. R. G. Hosking, president of the Wlmngarei Racing Club, who led an influential deputation of club members this afternoon in asking the Minister to continue the permit for a fourth day’s racing.
The Minister received the deputation at the racecourse, and inspected the whole of the accommodation and improvements. He congratulated members on what had been achieved-
