DISCOVERY OF MESSAGE REPORTED THOUGHT TO BE HOAX "Press Association WELLINGTON, To-day. Half buried in silt on the bank o£ the Pelorous River. Messrs. J. S. and O S Bayne, of Wellington, while on -.'tramping holiday found a bottle containing the message: "Can’t land. Help. Scotty," evidently coming, or purporting to come from Hood and Moncrleff, who were lost in an attempt to fly the Tasman Sea. On their return to Wellington they rommunicated with Messrs. McLeod •ind Liesher, two personal friends of Moncrieff. and Mr. McNicol, promoter of the flight. Asked if ho thought the message was ge.nuine, Mr. McLeod said the signature was very similar to that ,'ontained in a letter he had received from Scotty, but personally he did not think it was genuine!
