HIS MAJESTY’S THEATRE
“THE VAGABOND KING” “The Vagabond King” continues a most successful run at His Majesty’s Theatre, and well deserves the enthusiasm with which it is being received in Auckland. It is a treat of gorgeous colouring, rousing clioruises and delightful duets. Well enotigh known on the gramophone, the main chorus, “The Song of tho Vagabond” has a fresh appeal pre-
sented on tne stage, it nas tnrmea thousands of people here, and though the chorus is repeated several times during the course of each show no audience has yet hod enough of it. The duets are particularly attractive, Miss Strella Wilson and Mr. James Biddy providing a treat in “Only a Rose” and other songs. The musical romance is most magnificently staged, perhaps better than anything produced here in the past five years. Dances of old Mexico are a feature of the Paramount production, “Wolf Sung.” in which I.upe Valez and Gary Cooper have the leading roles. Others in the cast ore Louis Wolheim. Michael Yavitch and Augustina Lopes. Victor Fleming is now directing studio scenes at the Paramount “lot” in Hollywood.
