NO WATER SHORTAGE

WAITAKERE DAMS FULL j For about the first time in its history the city fears no water shortage. To-day the dams in the Waotakeres are holding more than 730.000,000 gallons of water, and it would take well into the autumn to bring them down to danger level if not another drop of rain fell. More storage, more scattered rainfall and a great deal less waste by users have secured the present position, yet no restrictions have been imposed. Many farms round Auckland are suffering from lack of water, and Glen Eden, which turned down a £14,000 loan last year to join up with the city supply, is now faced with the possibility of buying water, as it did last. j y ear _________
