MOTORING THRILLS
MURIWAI BEACH, MARCH 9 First-class motoring thrills are promised on the Muriwai Beach on Saturday, March 9. when a big motorracing meeting will be held. New and most adequate arrangements have been made for this year’s ; meeting, and 50,000 people could have 'an unobstructed view of the racing from the natural grandstand. The cars will race over a course one and aquarter miles long, and the whole of the running, including the turns at both ends, will easily be seen. Among the speed attractions will be the appearance of a super-charged “Bugatti” racing car capable of doing 130 m.p.h., with Hope Bartlett, the well-known Australian speed chamj pion, at the wheel. Another attraction will be a super- ; charged “Alvis” driven, steered and j braked on the front wheels. This car ; is said to be an absolute wizard on I the corners. All the roads to Muriwai have recently been greatly improved, the dust nuisance will be practically eliminated, and the speed course is now within one hour’s motor run of the city, i The big programme of speed events J will make up the finest: racing attrac- [ Uuu ttver staged in New Zealand.
