BETTER POTATOES FRUIT MARKET IMPROVES A better line of potatoes was offered on the City Markets to-day, and there was an advance in rates. Inferior lines, mostly with blight, still flood the market, and values dropped for these offerings. L’RUIT salqs this week have improved distinctly. First-grade lines are now being sought eagerly. Peaches of excellent quality are attracting the attention of buyers. Tomatoes are stdling at better prices. Californian and Jaffa oranges are being offered at exceptionally high rates. Bananas are selling well. Lemons, apples, plums and pears are all offering at firm rates. In the vegetable market, it is almost impossible to sell cucumbers. Heavy supplies of beans and peas are meeting with a fair demand. Poultry sales are steady. Good heavy hens and cockerels are selling satisfactorily-.
