STOLE FROM NEIGHBOURS
FARMER’S WOOL THEFTS (Special to THE SI7XJ CHRISTCHURCH, Thursday. In the Supreme Court to-day Frederick Arthur Penfold, a farmer, of Leithfield, was found guilty of the theft from two neighbours of wool fleeces to the value of £22. Accused, who pleaded xtot guilty, was represented by Mr. C. S. Thomas. For the Crown Mr. A. W. Brown said Penfold was a small farmer. One of his neighbours discovered on the day after he had sheared, November 23, that 24 fleeces had been stolen from his shed. Another neighbour discovered that he had also lost 15 fleeces. Later Penfold had sold 44 fleeces to a dealer. Some of the recovered wool was identified by the two neighbouring farmers. Penfold was remanded for sentence until to-morrow.
