(United. P.A.—By Telegraph—Copyright j Reed. 12.20 p.m. CANBERRA, To-day. The Federal Government narrowly escaped defeat oil a motion by Mr. Coleman (Labour) for printing certain determinations by the Public Service arbitrator, to which the leader of the Senate had given notice of an intention to move his disapproval. The effect of Mr. Coleman’s motion amounted to a censure on the Government, and it was defeated only by 36 to 35, on the Speaker’s casting vote.

Four ministerialists were absent, and Mr. W. M. Hughes and Mr. Mann (Nationalists) and Mr. Stewart anfl Mr. McWilliams (Independents) voted against the Government.
