MOTOR UNION MEETS SUPER-ELEVATION AT BENDS This morning marked first time an executive meeting ot the North Island Motor Union was held outside Wellington. _ The executive’s half-yenrly meeting \ as held in the offices of the Auckland Automobile Association. The delegates were welcomed by Mr. A. Grayson, president of the Auckland Assola tion, and Mr. A. J. Toogood, of Wellington. president of the union, said that the union considered it a wise move to distribute the meetings among the associations. Delegates present were: Messrs. A. j. Toogood, president; H. Jones < Auckland), vice-president; A. Grayson, G. \V. Hutchison, G. Henning, G. M. White, 11. Butcher (Auckland); N. I*. Shepherd (Wairarapa), V. Huff (Taranaki), J. H. Edmondson (Hawke’s Bay), H. Stott, secretary, F. Manton, I. V. Wilson, A. J. Curtis, W. G. Walkley (Wellington), and Dr. E. E. Porritt 1 Wanganui). Banking on curves was a subject raised in a long report from the Wanganui Association. The report dealt v ith the ability of various weights of motor-vehicles to hold the road at corners, and said that a corner without suflit ient super-elevation for satiety permitted a tendency among motorists t«» cut corners. It was stated that super-elevation was now being insisted on in the reconstruction of main highways. Mr. Grayson pointed out that superelevation was generally found to be ample in the Auckland district. The executive complimented the association on its report and decided to send it to the Public Works Department as coming from the North Island Motor Union. Other subjects discussed at this morning’s part of the meeting were wandering stock, speed limits, symbolic signs, payment to traffic inspectors, rear reflectors and membership on the union from the New Zealand Auto Cycle Union.
