SHOPS AND SHOWROOMS

OLD CITY BUILDING TO BE REMODELLED WAS TONSON GARLICK’S An old city building will soon be greatly improved in appearance as the result of rebuilding operations started yesterday on the premises occupied for many years by Tonson. Garlick. The building, which is to be renamed St. James Building, is now owned by John Fuller and Son, who are spending several thousands of pounds on remodelling. The changes to be made include the building of three modern shops, with frontages to Queen Street; a billiard saloon on the first floor; and large showrooms, with a Lome Street frontage, for Menzies, carpet specialist. Mr. A. Sinclair O’Connor is architect for the change of plans, and the work will be finished in good time.
