Said to Have Spent £4OO in One Month

YOUNG MAN’S GOOD TIME

REMANDED ON THEFT CHARGE Bartholomew Mcllroy would appear to have had a lively time during the last four weeks. According to Chief-Detective Hammond, he stole £3OO on January 12. When arrested yesterday, he had 4s 7d. “He has been making a big splash,” commented the chiefdetective.

Mcllroy, alias Jack Kerwood, a labourer, aged 22, was charged at the Police Court this morning with stealing a bank book and £3OO from one Eronin. He was also said to have deprived the same man of 600 dollars. Further charges were that Mcllroy had stolen a car valued at £350 from Bert Shorter, and two gramophones valued at £l2 and £7 10s from city dealers. “He has spent all this money in about a month,” remarked the chiefdetective, asking for a remand until Monday.

Mcllroy, who was faultlessly dressed in a well-cut grey flannel suit, had nothing' to say, and the remand was granted.
