FOUND NOT GUILTY

FATHER-IN-LAW CHARGED WITH MURDER

QUEENSLAND TRIAL

Reed. 11 a.m. BRISBANE, To-day. Thomas Chrystal was found not guilty of the wilful murder of his son-in-law, Richard Devers, at Woody Point. Accused stated that Devers threatened to blow up witness and his house.

Richard Devers, aged 33, was shot dead at the gate of his father-in-law’s house at Woody Point on January 14.

Dever’s wife had gone to her father’s house, and Devers followed. During an argument a gun was produced. It is alleged that both men struggled for possession of the weapon. An explosion followed and Devers fell to the ground, shot in the neck. It was stated that deceased had told friends that he expected trouble when he reached the house.
