GRADING FALLACIES ALLEGED
MEETING AT KAITAIA (From Our Own Correspondent) KAITAIA, Saturday. Some rather lively discussions occurr ■ at the extraordinary general meeting the Kaitaio Dairy Factory, held this afternoon, when the directors, managv and staff were much criticised by suppliers, who were of opinion that fallacie existed in the grading of cream and that the factory was not being run as it should. At times considerable excitement ensued and speech-making became difficult owing to three or four desiring to tali at once. The suppliers in many instances fen they were not having enough to say m the running of the factory, and tha‘ changes should be made in the staff, the manager particularly being made a target for complaints. The question of the purity of the wate. was freely discussed, but analytical reports read out appeared to convince tl* meeting that the water was satisfactory. Mr. W. Dempster, dairy instructor o* the Agricultural Department, declared that some of the factory plant was only tit to scrap. “Some of it I would net pick up for dump,” he said. He went on to say that Kaitaia best cream was of the very highest quality. The graam? was not the fault of the grader or tilt manager, who had only graded on tut Government standard, which had been brought in by the industry. . . If there was any fault it was that oi his department. ’ They should have visited the factory a little oftener ana so put the factory on a more even ke e «; After some further discussion o minor points the meeting adjourned ont • next Saturday afternoon.
