POSED AS SURVEYOR (From Our Oxen Correspondent J HAMILTON, To-day. William John Reader pleaded guilty to three charges of fraud and was sentenced to six months’ hard labour in the Police Court to-day. The evidence showed that he came to Hamilton and obtained board under a false name, and said he was a surveyor. Later he obtained a gramophone by false pretences on time payment, and presented a valueless cheque for the first instalment, and obtained change. On a charge of arrears of wife maintenance lie was remanded.
