LAUNCH ON FIRE
DESERTED BY OCCUPANTS
(Special to THE SUN) COROMANDEL, Wednesday. A small vessel was seen to be on fire about five miles out in the gulf yesterday. Mr. Strongman immediately set off to the burning vessel, and found it was a launch belonging to Mr. Kirby, of Thames. There was no sign of the launch hands, or any dinghy. fc>he was burned to the. water’s edge in the forepart, but the after-part was not damaged so much. Mr. Strongman salvaged her, and beached her at Ttangipukea. The launchmen, it was learned later, had landed at Kereta, and proceeded to Thames.
