MINISTER ON TOUR
MR. STALLWORTHY MEETS DEPUTATIONS
(From Our Own Correspondent) HAMILTON, Wednesday. The. Hon. A. J. Stallworthy, Minister of Health, accompanied by Hr. Valintine and Mr. A. M. Samuel, M.P. for Thames, visited Waihi to-day. At the Waihi Hospital he was received by the chairman, Mr. J. E. Slevin and members of the Hospital Board, the assistant-medical superintendent, E>r. T. H. Short, and the matron, Miss C. E. Lord. The Minister was much impressed with the general appointments of the institution. Members of the board waited on Hr. Valintine and asked him if something could not be done in the matter of extending the Waihi Hospital boundaries, so as to include the Waihi Plains, Waikino and Waitekauri, which were, as far as hospital patients were concerned, part of Waihi. Hr. Valintine replied that the time was not opportune, but that if the local board would get Thames to agree to give Waihi the area the extension sought could no doubt be arranged. At Paeroa the Minister was met by the Mayor, Mr. W. Marshall, members of the Paeroa Borough Council and representatives of the Ohinemuri County Council. A welcome was accorded the Minister in the borough chambers and several matters relative to the Paeroa Hospital were discussed. The party visited the hospital site and inspected the progress made in the erection of the building. The contractors have completed all the foundation work and have made considerable progress with the erection of the building proper. The Minister arrived at Hamilton this evening and to-morrow will meet the Waikato Hospital Board.
