applicants for westERN ROUTES OTHERS IN QUESTION According to indications at the Auckland Transport Board meeting yesterday the western suburbs are not long to be without bus services. Two applicants were reported to be in the field, Messrs. A. E. Ivil and W. Iddeson, both of whom are px-epared to run services to the city and either buy new buses or take over some from the board. The chairman, Mr. J. A. C. Allum, told the board that the boai-d having abandoned the services, it was open for anyone to apply for them. There was no suggestion that the services would run only to Whau Bridge, but they would be restricted from serving areas inside the Whau Bridge. The manager. All*. A. E. Ford, was requested to prepare a report and pricelist of any buses available for sale. The board disposed of its first bus service, agreeing to transfer that from Remuera to Benson and Upland Roads to Mr. C. M. Strand. Mr. J. Collett applied for a service between Ladies’ Mile and the city, a service which was also the subject of an application from the Passenger Transport Company, which proposed to divert some of its buses through Ul ßoth ties were represented, and there was a suggestion of a breeze between the chairman and Nr Nells Mason, representing Mr. Collett. The chairman drew attention to the fact that the No. 1 Licensing Authority had decided against the applicant holding ‘ 4 MrMason expressed surprise at this being brought up and suggested that the board was dealing with an application, which was supported by 267 pen tinners in an arbitrary manner. Eventually both applications were deferred for a fortnight, during which time Mr. Collett -will have the opportunity of further advancing his application.
