THREE SEXUAL CASES

SUPREME COURT DECISION Seven prisoners were sentenced in the Supreme Court this morning by Mr. Justice Blair. Three of the cases were sexual offences. David John Jones was admitted to probation for three years on two charges of indecent assault. The prisoner was committed for sentence at Te Awamutu on December 27. He was ordered to pay costs of th eprosecution. Two youths, Albert Gardner and William Gibson, were each sentenced to two years’ detention in the Borstal Institute for breaking, entering and theft at Otahuhu. The prisoners were committed for sentence in Auckland on January 10. John Dyer ,Mr. Butler), who was committed for sentence at Rawene on January 9 for Yarnal knowledge, -was admitted to probation for two years. William Evans (Mr. Leary), who was committed for sentence at Cambridge on January 24 for indecent assault, was ordered to come up for sentence wthin two years if called upon. Victor William Cunningham (M.r. Singer)who had admitted 25 charges of theft in the Lower Court from which h ewas committed for sentence on January 24, was sentenced to reformative detention for two years. William Frederick Thomas (Mr. Singer) was sentenced to reformative detention fo.r not more than four years on six charges of theft. He was committed for sentence at Auckland on January 2.
