“SHOULD HAVE A SAY” APPOINTING NEW LEADER ( United P A. — By Telegraph — Copyright) (Australian and N.Z. Press -4 asocial k>n.J Reed. 12.6 p.m. LONDON, Thursday. Commander Catherine Booth declares that it is not opposed to Salvation Army practice to seek the court’s guidance on legal points which do not involve a personal quarrel. “It is an appalling thought,” she says, “that the High Council cauuot think of a better plan than that of meeting again, having already done so in a manner declared wrong by the courts. What the council wants is really the power to elect General Booth’s successor. “Thousands of officers and soldiers should have a voice in any change in the Army’s constitution.” The “Daily Express” understands that General Booth has sent a letter to the High Council making a second offer. The latter is at present a secret, but it. has been sent for publication to the “War Cry.”
