Obituary
MR. E. B. OLDFIELD The death occurred on Tuesday of Mr. Edwin B. Oldfield, of Corella Road, Belmont, at the age of 87. Mr. Oldfield, who was born at Macclesfield, in Cheshire, ,in 1842, came to New Zealand in the Matoka in 1864. For some time he was employed by the Auckland Gas Company, but in 1879 took up a farm at Waipipi, near Waiuku, which he held for 30 years. He leaves a wife, seven sons and three daughters. Three of his sons fought in the Great War and one of thepi was killed. MRS. S. J. FOSDICK. The death occurred on Tuesday of Mrs. Sarah Jane Fosdick, an early resident of Auckland, at the age of 89. Mrs. Fosdick was born in Lough Brickland, County Down, Ireland, and came to New Zealand in the Surratt in 1864. She was married in All Saints’ Church in 1870 to the late Mr. James Fosdick, who died 42 years ago. A service was held in the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, Khyber Pass, and she was buried at Waikumete Cemetery on Thursday, the service being conducted by the Rev. Gordon Bell. Mrs. Fosdick leaves one son, Mr. J. T. Fosdick. of Auckland, and one daughter, Mrs. F. H. Greep, of Avondale.
