SWAGMAN’S STORY

LIGHT ON MOTOR-CAR MYSTERY (Australian and N.Z. Press Association) MELBOURNE,, Wednesday. The police have not been able to trace Mr. Leslie Williams, electrical engineer, whose motor-car was found at Donnybrook, near Melbourne, during the week-end. The father and brother of the missing man say there is no reason to think he committed suicide. The affair has taken a strange turn. A swagman to-day reported to a local hotelkeeper that he was given a lift in somebody’s car and was attacked and robbed of a sum of £7 10s. He says the attack occurred on the same night that Mr. Williams’s car was found abandoned. The police are now trying to trace the man who made this statement.
