SHIELD UMPIRES

At the weekly meeting of the management committee of the Auckland Cricket Association last evening a newspaper article and the views expressed therein concerning the umpiring in the recent Plunket Shield match at Auckland was discussed. The committee appointed Messrs. N. C. Snedden, E. E. Nalder and N. IT. E. Hockin a sub-committee to draft a letter to the Wellington Cricket Association on the subject. It was resolved to ask the Eden Park Board of Control what steps were being taken to have the pavilion at the ground brought more up to date. The matter of over-long afternoon tea adjournments was discussed, it being decided to draw the attention of the Umpires’ Association to the late starting after this interval.
