NEW LYNN GUN CLUB
CHAMPIONSHIP SHOOT TURNER WINS CLUB TITLE There was a large attendance at the New Lynn Gun Club’s championship meeting at the club grounds, New Lynn, yesterday. The weather conditions were fairly good, but the light was troublesome in the afternoon. No. 1 shoot, for the club championship, drew 15 competitors. W. Turner, shooting off 18yds, won the title by gaining the possible. A. E. Macredie and C. E. Hodges tied for second place, with 20 each. In the shoot-off, Macredie won. Turner’s victory was a very popular one. No. 2 shoot was a women’s trophy match of 10 birds, for a prize presented by Mr. G. Murrell. A. E. Macredie (19yds) won with nine birds, and G. E. Hodge (19yds) and D. L. Stent (15yds) tied for second place with eight birds each. Mrs. F. C. Me* Gilpan drew Macredie as her shooter, and was presented with the trophy. No. 4 shoot, a 10-bird match, was won by H. E. McKnight (15yds), with nine birds, L. Ramsay (12yds) being second with eight.
No. 5 shoot, a 10-bird match for novices, for Mr. C. A. Whitney’s trophy, resulted in a tie for first place between L. Ramsay (14yds) and P. N. Calley (17yds). with eight birds each. In the shoot-off, Calley won at the 15th bird.
At the conclusion of the shoot, the president, Dr. H. Pettit, presented the trophies.
