LONDON’S GAS EXPLOSIONS ELEVEN IN LAST 17 DAYS (Australian and N.Z. Press Association) LONDON, Tuesday. Explosions and the bursting of mains continue to occur in the streets of London. There have been 11 in the last 17 days. The “Daily News” has introduced a standing headline: “The Daily Burst.” In the Strand to-day a hydraulic main burst and forced up the pavement. Smaller bursts occurred in neighbouring streets, and the escaping water flooded basements, stopped the traffic and destroyed the paving in Arundel Street.
