YACHT BECALMED
FOUR PEOPLE SPEND NIGHT AT SEA A peaceful Saturday afternoon’s cruise in a small yacht, undertaken by three men and a young woman, had unpleasant consequences, when the. wind fell on Saturday evening. The yacht set out from Birkenhead about mid-day on Saturday and spent a pleasant afternoon cruising in the Gulf. On the way home, when the vessel was about a mile off Birkenhead, the wind fell and she lay becalmed.
No atempt was made to paddle her in and the breeze did not rise until about three o J clock on Sunday morning. The four passengers ~ arrived home at about five o’clock, after having spent a somewhat chilly night at sea.
By about that time their relations were becoming anxious, and a constable was sent from Northcote to make inquiries, and, if necessary, have the yacht towed in. However, just as ho arrived in Birkenhead, the yacht anchored off the beach.
The vessel is owned by Mr. Brown of Birkenhead.
