VISITING PLAYERS The New South Wales bowlers who participated in the recent Dominion tournament will arrive in Auckland this afternoon. The party, which comprises about 24, will be taken for ,a. drive tomorrow morning-, and will play at the Carlton Green in the afternoon. The following afternoon the visitors will play at the Remuera green. Another drive has been arranged for Thursday morning, and in the afternoon the visitors will be the guests of the president of the Auckland Centre, Mr. S. BOWLERS’ EVENING SPEECHES AT WEST END SEVERAL PRESENTATIONS Mr. J. W. Hardley, manager, and other West End Club members of the New Zealand bowling party which toured the British Isles were welcomed at the club pavilion on Saturday evening. . . Mr. James Pascoe, who is going on an overseas tour, was given a farewell and the club, rink which won the Dominion championship was congratulated. Several toasts were lionoured. . , , Mr. S. Coldicutt praised the work by Messrs. J. W. Hardley and James Pascoe for the Auckland Centre. He also referred to the foundation rvork by the first president of the West End Club, Mr. John Court. Mr. W. I-I. Murray said that the tour of the United Kingdom had brought New Zealand into bowling prominence. Mr. Hardley described the whole of the tour. Mr. J. H. Colthurst, on behalf of the committee and club members, presented Mr. Pascoe with an illuminated address. He congratulated 'the retiring president on his work. The champion singles player of New Zealand. Mr. A. R. Coltman, was congratulated. Mr. M. J. Savage, M.P., and Mr. R. T. Harrison, of Sydney, also spoke. Musical items were given by Messrs. Clark. Among the visitors on the bonk were Professor Maxwell "Walker and Dr. Tlardie Neil, of the' Auckland Club.
