Obituary

MR. R. \V. MEERS Mr. Robert Walker Meers died at Tauranga to-day, aged 69 years. For many years he was a photographer there. He arrived at Lyttelton in the Warrior Queen in March, 1869. He returned to England and came out again to Lyttelton by the Lady Jocelyn. He leaves a widow, two sons and two daughters.—P.A. MRS. ISABEL R. THOMAS The death occurred on Saturday of Mrs. Isabel R. Thomas, wife of the Rev. F. Carew Thomas, honorary assistant curate of St. Matthew’s Church. Mrs. Thomas was well -known and loved in every parish where her husband worked. She did much for the Girjs’ Friendly Society and made work among girls the chief labour of her life. She was a pupil of the Royal School of Art Needlework and a few years ago she did a great deal of sewing for the Church, making such things as altar-cloths and hangings, so that today many examples of her beautiful work are to bo found in churches all over New Zealand. Mrs. Thomas leaves a younger sister, who is in England, and her husband. MR. WILLIAM FULLER The death of Mr. William Fuller, a well-known resident of Nga.ruawahia, lias occurred, at the age of 66 years. Mr. Fuller was for many years a resident of Ngaruawahia, and the Lower Waikota, where he engaged in. farming and flaxmilling. He was a native of Rye, England, and came to New Zealand when he was 18 years of age. He first farmed near Reef ton, but subsequently came to the "Waikato. He was married in 1883 to Miss Eleanor Vaughan. Subsequently he removed to Taupiri, where he owned a flaxmill. His next move was to Ngaruawahia, where he had resided for 30 years. He was one of the founders of the Ngaruawahia Bowling Club. He played a prominent part in the social affairs of the town, and served on the Borough Council, the school committee and the Chamber of Commerce. He leaves a widow, five sons and six d a u gh te.rs.
