SITES FOR AIRDROMES
ESSENTIAL FOR BIG TOWNS WELLINGTON, Friday. The importance of the development of civil aviation was intimated to a deputation from the Manawatu Aero Club, which waited to-day on the Minister of Defence, the Hon. T. M. Wilford, with a request for Government recognition of the club. Mr. Wilford expressed himself as being in sympathy with the construction of well-sitlated airdromes, and said he believed that those municipalities which neglected in the future to provide far one would find themselves left behind when civil aviation, became a part of the life of the people. The Air Ministry at Home had laid it down that every local authority should erect airdromes, and a communication from the Ministry made it plain that every town of importance would sooner or later find that this was jus as essential as it was to possess railway stations, roads and garages.
